I was born in Prospect Place GRAVESEND. Kent in 1967. Always remembered this town as a nice clean place to live and relatively low crime rate. Moved to Bromley 10 years ago and came back last year...my it's really gone downhill!! Anyway would love to hear from anyone who remembers Milton Road Primary school or has any pictures as well as any of Prospect Place and surrounding areas.

Hi there. I couldn't find any answer on my question so I decided to ask - maybe someone can help me :$ i've seen a lot of flats to rent in harmer street. what's wrong with that street ? No one wants to live there? Is it not safe place to live? I am not from gravesend so I'd like to know what area in gravesend isn't safe. What do you personally think about harmer street as a place to live ?

I was born in Ashley Down Nursing Home (nr Windmill Hill) in 1945. We lived at 63 Parrock Street, and 31 Thistle Road, Denton. I left to join the Army in 1965 and have only returned occasionally to visit since then. My mother (Doris), Father (Chris) and brother (Cliff) are all buried at Chalk Church. I discovered your website today (18 Nov 09) and am delighted that someone has taken the time and effort to do this - well done.

The photo is General Gordon in Gordon Gardens.
I was born in Darnley Road Gravesend in 1941 and left in 1960 to join the RAF. I was a frequent visitor as my Family still lives there and I like to go back at least once a year. I have been trying to get a picture of the VE day party we had in Edwin Street but to no avail. Perhaps you can help. The town has changed but I remember it as it was, cinemas with only one screen, The Plaza, the Majestic, The Regal (ABC Minors) and the Super at the top of the town. Enjoyed the site and will be dropping in to see updates. Thanks for making the site up. D |

Hi I am searching my Pittman and Ditchburn family tree. My GG Grandfather John Frederick Pittman was a Solicitor's Clerk living at 77 Porrock St. My GGG Grandfather John Thomas Pittman was a Tea Seller at 68 High St Gravesend. I don't know if he also lived there but I suspect so.
My GGG Grandmother was formerly Charlotte Harriet Ditchburn. Rob Pittman Australia |

Hi - realy enjoyed looking at the old pictures on your web site. I've been living in Gravesend for about ten years now.
You probably already know but they have loads of old pics of Gravesend on the walls of the cafe on the Promenade. Perhaps they may let you have some copies> Glen [kenttodayandyesterday.blogspot.com] |
