I was born in Gravesend in 1936 and attended Holy Trinity School, Gordon School and St. Georges. I lived in Brunswick Road, now demolished. Such a lovely old town then. I now live in NZ and have revisited, what a pity to see it now. I have a book on very old Gravesend I would like to pass on if anyone is interested. If so please contact me.

Hi. Does anyone know what the business was before the KFC in Valley drive parade. If anyone has any photos of that area in the 60's, 70's would love to see them x

I seem to remember it used to be a shoe shop, not like one you see in the high streets though. It was run by a gentleman called John and was piled high with boxes of shoes. We always got our school shoes from there!

Jackie, my Aunt Stella, who lives in Valley Drive, said it was more like a gents outfitters as they sold almost everything in the clothing line.

I was born in Gravesend in 1944 and lived there until 1962. I attended Shorne School, Higham School, Gordon School, Gravesend Technical School, Wombwell Hall. My grandparents ran the off licence in Bath Street for many years, where I lived after leaving Shorne.

I'd like to hear from anyone who was born around 1962-67 and went to Milton primary school. I grew up around the prospect place area and attended Milton and Gordon high school.
I was in the class of 1979.
Thanks

Lived in Gravesend and Istead Rise between '57' and '69',two siblings born in Kent Road. Fond memories of my childhood there and sailing in the shipping lanes off Tilbury with my grandfather in his Mirror '10' dinghy. But some posts suggest that I am better anywhere but Gravesend, and that is so very sad.Still love the pictures of Gravesend in her former glory and can only hope what's left can be retained.
